PROFILE
E.ON Ruhrgas UK North Sea Limited (“ERUK“) is an upstream oil and gas company with its head office in London and offices in Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth.

SITUATION
E.ON Ruhrgas identified a requirement for a fully bespoke software system to enable them to manage the problem of understanding the location of materials and people.

They also needed to reduce their invoice process and payment schedule by 75% and the ability to receive and track  both materials and people offshore were key requirements.

SOLUTION
Material Advantage is an integrated project procurement and materials management software system that delivers an immediate return. It ensures that what is designed is what is procured, and delivered when needed.

Viasys were shortlisted from an initial 14 potential solution providers and it was determined that Material Advantage provided the best solution to meet the business needs. By enriching the system to include additional bespoke functionality Viasys were able to deliver a solution that fully met all of E.ON Ruhrgas’s requirements
Material Advantage became operational in early 2009 and was immediately deployed for use on the Babbage Oilfield development.

RESULTS
Following its successful deployment for the Babbage project, Material  Advantage has proceeded to manage the procurement & logistics functions for 3 other projects within the organisation.

The invoice process has now been fully automated from receiving an invoice through to payment. By integrating OCR technology with Material Advantage this process can now happen in a number of minutes rather than the days taken under the previous manual process.
